KNOW THIS FROM THE WORLD JOB MARKET

4 Job Skills That No Longer Impress Recruiters

In today's competitive job market, it is important to develop skills that will make your resume stand out. But some of the job skills that might have moved your resume to the top of the pile a few years ago might not be worth as much today. Which skills are on the verge of becoming so last year?
According to online salary database, Pay Scale.com, the skills on this list have seen the biggest drop in market value over the last few years. "These skills are associated with jobs the Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts to have slow to no growth over the next 10 years," says Katie Bardaro, Director of Analytics at PayScale.com. "Often, to be successful in your career, you need to have multiple skills to set yourself apart," says Bardaro. If the skill that tops your resume is on this list, it may be wise to invest time in developing other skills related to your career and industry.

Spanish
Spanish is the second most prominent language in the United States, after English. Additionally, over 35 million U.S. residents speak Spanish at home, according to census.gov. So why is this a dying job skill? Simply put, the commonality of Spanish makes it a resume dud. Furthermore, Spanish isn't a prominent language in business. If you would like to pad your resume with a language skill, consider learning Arabic, Japanese or Chinese.
Software Installation and Upgrade
In these technology-driven times, most workers have a basic understanding of computers and software. In fact, most software installation happens at the push of a button or, more often, is automated. Upgrades are often as simple as clicking a link and restarting your computer, something that has become second nature to many workers.
Legal Research
An abundance of underemployed law school grads makes this skill not as impressive as it used to be.  If you want to compete with them, you may need to head back to law school yourself.
Handling Mortgage Loans
The collapse of the housing industry shook the faith of many and renters are on the rise. If this skill tops your resume, it might be wise to look for other ways to apply your knowledge of the mortgage loan business.

Human behaviour: the raw data of psychology
In a similar way, psychologists use human behaviour as a clue to the workings of the mind. Although we cannot observe the mind directly, everything we do, think, feel and say is determined by the functioning of the mind. So psychologists take human behaviour as the raw data for testing their theories about how the mind works.
Since the German psychologist Wilhelm Wundt (1832-1920) opened the first experimental psychology lab in Leipzig in 1879, we have learned an enormous amount about the relationship between brain, mind and behaviour.

Sexual abuse

Sexual abuse is unwanted sexual activity, with perpetrators using force, making threats or taking advantage of victims not able to give consent. Most victims and perpetrators know each other. Immediate reactions to sexual abuse include shock, fear or disbelief. Long-term symptoms include anxiety, fear or post-traumatic stress disorder. While efforts to treat sex offenders remain unpromising, psychological interventions for survivors — especially group therapy — appears effective.

IMPACTS OF GENDER ISSUES AND CAREER CHOICE

Several factors associated with a more global world strengthen the incentives for action toward greater gender equality:
  • Gender inequality is more costly in an integrated world because it diminishes a country's ability to compete internationally—particularly if the country specialises in female-intensive goods and services.
  • International peer pressure has also led more countries than ever to ratify treaties against discrimination.
  • Growing media exposure and consumers' demands for better treatment of workers has pushed multinationals toward fairer wages and better working conditions for women.
Globalisation is shifting gender roles and norms:
  • Increased access to information, primarily through television and the Internet, allows countries to learn about social mores in other places, which can change perceptions and promote the adoption of more egalitarian attitudes.
  • Economic empowerment for women reinforces this process by promoting changes in gender roles and allowing women to influence time allocation, shift relative power within the household and exercise agency more broadly.

2.2 Definitions of Physical Disability
This refers to the disability caused by developmental delay, diseases of the central and peripheral neurological systems, traumas or other congenital diseases of the musculoskeletal system (Education bureau, www.edb.gv.hk.).

According to this meaning it shows that, most of the physical disabilities can be a result of problems developed by diseases or failure of development growth stages.

World health organization disabilities (2011), define physical disability as any impairment which limit the function of limbs or fine or gross motor ability. Other physical disabilities include impairments which limit other facets of daily living.

National disability authority (NDA), 2005. Define physical disability as a substantial restriction in the capacity of the person to carry on a profession, business or occupation in a state or participate in social or cultural life in the state because of an enduring physical sensory, mental health or intellectual impairment.

Santrock, (2012) has used the term physical disorder to mean children with orthopedic impairments, such as cerebral palsy and seizure disorders. Also have suggested that children with physical disorders require special education and related services, such as transportation, physical therapy, school health services and psychological services.

Ingule, Rono and Ndambuki (1996), use the term exceptional children which within it there is a group of children with physical handicap. According to them, exceptional children refers  to any typical children or children with defiant behaviour although the terminologies like disabled, handicapped and dyfunctioning to mean oxceptional children.

Ingule et al,(1996) explains that children with physical limitations or health problem interfere with normal physical functioning example school attendance or learning.

2.3 Types of Physical Disability
Ingule et al ,(1996) categorizes physical disability as neurological disability health handicaps, musculoskeletal problem and orthopedic.

2.4 Education to Children with Physical Disability
In Tanzania education to children with physical disability follows the category of special education.
Children with disabilities in Tanzania are provided with educational services at various levels ranging from primary through secondary to higher learning institutions. Pre-primary is yet to be introduced to this group of children with educational needs. Categories of disabilities include those with visual hearing, mental and physical impairments. Stress Management

How to Reduce, Prevent, and Cope with Stress

Stress Management
It may seem that there’s nothing you can do about stress. The bills won’t stop coming, there will never be more hours in the day, and your career and family responsibilities will always be demanding. But you have more control than you might think. In fact, the simple realization that you’re in control of your life is the foundation of stress management. Managing stress is all about taking charge: of your thoughts, emotions, schedule, and the way you deal with problems

Identify the sources of stress in your life

Learn about hidden sources of stress

Watch 3-min. video: Roadblocks to awareness

Stress management starts with identifying the sources of stress in your life. This isn’t as easy as it sounds. Your true sources of stress aren’t always obvious, and it’s all too easy to overlook your own stress-inducing thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Sure, you may know that you’re constantly worried about work deadlines. But maybe it’s your procrastination, rather than the actual job demands, that leads to deadline stress.
To identify your true sources of stress, look closely at your habits, attitude, and excuses:
  • Do you explain away stress as temporary (“I just have a million things going on right now”) even though you can’t remember the last time you took a breather?
  • Do you define stress as an integral part of your work or home life (“Things are always crazy around here”) or as a part of your personality (“I have a lot of nervous energy, that’s all”).
  • Do you blame your stress on other people or outside events, or view it as entirely normal and unexceptional?
Until you accept responsibility for the role you play in creating or maintaining it, your stress level will remain outside your control.

Start a Stress Journal

A stress journal can help you identify the regular stressors in your life and the way you deal with them. Each time you feel stressed, keep track of it in your journal. As you keep a daily log, you will begin to see patterns and common themes. Write down:
  • What caused your stress (make a guess if you’re unsure).
  • How you felt, both physically and emotionally.
  • How you acted in response.
  • What you did to make yourself feel better.

Look at how you currently cope with stress

Think about the ways you currently manage and cope with stress in your life. Your stress journal can help you identify them. Are your coping strategies healthy or unhealthy, helpful or unproductive? Unfortunately, many people cope with stress i

Stress Theories. BY MAPUNDA JULIUS-TEKU/BEDCP/101552

The Life Events Theory of Stress. The life events theory of stress underscores that reactions to stress depend upon the duration of exposure to stressors and the degree or strength of these stressors. This theory is supported by Holmes & Rahe (1967), Lazarus (1966), and DeLongis (1982). Proponents of the life events theory measure stress as the accumulation of major and minor life events, minus major and minor uplifts. For example, a person may have experienced the death of a loved one, but won eight figures in a lottery the next day; or that another failed a test in one subject, yet received a perfect mark in another. If a person experiences more stressors than uplifts, he or she is said to be stressed.

Nakaribisha mjadala.
